After an exciting start in first couple of days in the TATA IPL 2022, the 15th season of the league saw the two new teams joining the group with enthusiasm and entertainment. The table had turned and even though, the bowlers had an upper hand in this week, the batters are not too far away.
Let’s scan some of the top performances of the second week-
Game 6: Ravi Bishnoi makes difference against Chennai with the ball & in the field:
In a game, where 421 runs had been scored in less than 40 overs, a young 21-year-old Rajasthan leg-spinner playing for the Lucknow Super Giants ended up with 2-24 in his four overs. He straightaway made an impact with dismissing Ruturaj Gaikwad via a run-out.
In his very first over, he sent back ominous looking Robin Uthappa for 50 thanks to a speedy leg-break that crashed fast on the batter’s pad. Later on, just when Ambati Rayudu looked to take charge in the slog overs, Bishnoi disturbed his furniture for 27.
Ravi Bishnoi played a crucial role for LSG in the first innings as he handed out just 24 runs and clinched 2 important wickets in his 4-over spell against CSK 🏏#IPL #IPL2022 #LSGvCSK #whistlepodu #LSG pic.twitter.com/yQ6qr2Izfb

Besides all of that, he kept on asking questions squeezing up the runs from one end with variations and impressed the whole world in the Brabourne water park.
Game 8: Andre Russell storm blew away the Punjab Kings:
It was a game perfectly set up by the Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers for an easy chase but losing few wickets one after another had almost kicked them off the track but it was their prime man, Andre Russell, who was participating in the game with an injury. However, when he came to bat, he did play some dot balls.
But, as he said, he got sweat, he just smashed away 70 runs in just 31 balls including 8 monstrous sixes and couple of boundaries. Some of shots he clubbed almost tore away not only the bowler’s set of mind but almost few white cricket balls. And to say the least, of what looked like a tough chase and something that would have taken some time to reach, he made it look like a cakewalk. “Once I start sweating, I backed my ability and said that I am going to go.”
Game 11: Liam Livingstone all-round show seals the job for Punjab:
The Chennai Super Kings had begun their bowling off to a blinder with restricting the opponents for 14-2 in the second over untill watching Englishman Liam Livingstone smacking the ball to all corners of the park. In an innings of 60 off 32 balls, he cracked five boundaries and as many as sixes. The storm just blasted a young left arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary to nail him everywhere.

Even when asked to bowl with a slightly wet ball, he finished with 2-25 in his third over dismissing ominous looking Shivam Dube before grasping a blinder of Dwayne Bravo in his own bowling. Punjab went on to seal the game by 54 runs.
Game 4: Shami going through the top order of LSG:
The fourth match of IPL was a special one, for two brand new teams were predestined to start their IPL journey from this match! Hardik Pandey of Gujrat Titans won the toss and sent LSG to bat first. The first ball bowled by Shami was a stunner! It was a good length delivery, a bit outside off stump. Rahul tried to defend it forward. But he missed it and the ball found the gloves of the keeper. GT made their appeals for caught behind. But the umpire was hesitant to give so. The review was taken. And it showed that before going to the keeper the ball touched the bat.
Shami was bowling his second over. He was bowling round the wicket to left-handed de Kock. And the 3rd ball pitched in good length and angled its way to the stumps. de Kock failed to connect the ball. And that excellent delivery took the wicket of de Kock.
Once again Shami bowled a good length delivery. Manish Pandey tried to guide it to the third man. But the bails were off.
Shami broke the backbone of LSG batting line-up ending with 3-25 in four overs.
Game 9: Buttler smashed first ton of IPL 2022 against Mumbai:
Jos Buttler once again proved in this match why he is the boss. He came to open with Jaiswal. From the beginning, he played the aggressive brand of cricket he is known for. Any bad ball and he was making it fly over the ropes. He hit 11 fours and 5 sixes in the innings.
Murugan Ashwin gave a delivery between off stump and middle stump region. Buttler made a huge room for himself and powered it towards the cover region. The it ended up being 6. When he was on 99, Bumrah gave a yorker and he tried to flick it.
MI players appealed for LBW. But the involvement of the bat could be seen on screen. Thus, Buttler completed a magnificent century, the first one of Tata IPL’ 22. But he could not stay there for the end as a fiery yorker hit the stumps hard. Therefore came to end an outstanding display of batting by Buttler.
Game 10: Ferguson Creates Havoc in Delhi batters:
While Delhi Capitals came to chase a total of 172 runs, they faced some initial problem as Seifert got out too early. Shaw and Mandeep were trying to build a partnership but then came Ferguson. The very first ball he gave was a short one. Shaw tried to pull it but the ball went high and found the fielder.
Very soon Mandeep tried to make a room and cut a short delivery and got caught behind. The budding partnership was badly broken.

Then Pant tried to build a partnership with Lalit Yadav. Pant was looking dangerous. And the captain recalled Ferguson. Once again, he started the over with a short one. Pant played a loose shot trying to pull it. But the pace of the ball carried it to the fielder. In that over too, Axar Patel fell prey to Ferguson as he nicked a outside leg stump delivery and Wade caught it. Ferguson torn apart the batting line up finishing with 4-28 in his four overs.
What to follow:
The next weeks will see the teams getting back to their full strong zone receiving all the players of the squad. While Chennai and Mumbai will look to open their account, others will try to stop them from doing that.
